Here's the plan

The plan for today is to:

  • Complete the "Multiple LTFs" assignment at Milsoft
    • This involves mostly working through code review issues
    • Maybe also adding more automated tests? It's kind of hard to test, but not impossible
  • Talk to State Farm and maybe other places about a car loan
  • Buy a car
  • Hang out with Daniel
  • As always, stay inside my calorie budget
Already did this morning: woke up eldest son before I left the house, so he won't sleep until 11 AM again. I wrote one automated test for that "LTFs" project, but it's not doing much.

First daily review

Earlier I said I wanted to accomplish these tasks:

  • Finish one of my coding tasks at work.
  • Stay under my calorie allowance.
  • Check the deadline for my kids' tuition payment.
  • Put away my laundry (I never fold, just put away).
  • Clean the kitchen.
  • Help the kids pick up their areas
Here’s how I did:

  • I finished the task I was working on
  • I stayed under my calorie allowance
  • I discovered that my kids’ school did not state a deadline on their bill
  • I put my laundry away
  • I cleaned the kitchen
  • I would have picked up a bit but they were already pretty decent
  • I also renewed my vehicle registration, which I had forgotten earlier
Pretty successful day over all. I’ll need to do this again.

New Concept: Blog What You Want to Do

For reasons I might explain someday, I have deleted my Facebook and Twitter accounts, but I had an idea for something that might be useful to myself and possibly other people, who knows.

Blog what you want to do.

A lot of people find it useful to keep a to-do list. There are a ton of ways to do this, as the concept is really simple. I've decided to publish my to-do list, and then periodically post what I actually accomplished. I feel like this could be a healthy way to stay on top of my long term goals. We'll see.

Here's what I want to do today:

  • Finish one of my coding tasks at work.
  • Stay under my calorie allowance.
  • Check the deadline for my kids' tuition payment.
  • Put away my laundry (I never fold, just put away).
  • Clean the kitchen.
  • Help the kids pick up their areas.
I'm leaving off the list things I already accomplished today, but I'm pretty proud of the fact that I actually made it to the gym this morning and clocked 2.1 miles on the elliptical in 28 minutes.

The plan is to post again later with results of those tasks. We'll see. I don't have the best track record with these things.
